Family Generation Chart
Add your family members with their birth years and, if you like, a photo. The chart places everyone on one timeline by generation, so you can see who is a Boomer, Gen Xer, Millennial, Gen Z or Gen Alpha at a glance.

Private by design: everything happens in your browser. Names and photos are never uploaded; they are saved only on this device so your chart is here when you return.
How to read the chart
Each colored column is a generation, using the same birth-year ranges as the rest of this site. Every person is placed at their birth year, with their age this year and generation underneath. When several people are born close together, they are stacked in rows so their names don't overlap.
Families often span four or five generations. Grandparents are commonly Baby Boomers, parents Gen X or Millennials, and children Gen Z or Gen Alpha. Anyone born near a boundary may also fit one of the microgenerations, like Xennials or Zillennials.
Family chart FAQ
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Photos are resized inside your browser and never sent to a server. They are saved only in this browser's local storage so your chart is still here when you come back.
How are ages calculated?
The chart shows the age each person reaches on their birthday this year, based on their birth year and your device's current date.
Which generation definitions does the chart use?
The same ranges used across this site: Pew Research Center's boundaries for the Greatest Generation through Gen Z, and McCrindle's for Gen Alpha and Gen Beta, with Gen Alpha starting in 2013.
